Dr William Zhang BDSc(Melb), DClinDent(Syd), FRACDS(Perio)

Dr. William Zhang is a registered specialist as a periodontist at the Periodontics and Dental Implant Specialist Centre in Hawthorn East, Melbourne. He provides specialist care for both periodontal and implant therapy. He graduated with Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Melbourne. Prior to embarking upon his specialist training, he practised as a general dentist in Melbourne. He always had a keen interest in periodontics and implantology and chose to pursue further study in these areas. He successfully completed the postgraduate study with high distinction and obtained the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) from the University of Sydney. He was subsequently awarded with the highest qualification in clinical dentistry, the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He has become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the specialist stream of periodontics since 2010.

Dr. Zhang is dedicated to life-long learning and keep up with all the modern advances in the world of periodontics to ensure his patients receive the most up-to-date treatment approaches. He regularly attends national and international conferences and reviews current implant and periodontal journals in order to maintain and extend a high standard of patient care. Dr Zhang is an active member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Periodontology, Australian Osseointegration Society, International Team for Implantology and Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontics. He is servicing as the vice president of the Australian Society of Periodontology.

As well as being a proficient clinical periodontist, Dr. Zhang remains active in publishing clinical and research papers. He is the first periodontist in the world who has studied the magnitude of oral bacteraemia caused by flossing and scaling and root planing in patients with chronic periodontitis. His research paper has been published in the most respectable dental journal in the world, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Dr Zhang also maintains a strong interest in training the new generation of dentists. He presents lectures on periodontics and implantology to students and dentists both locally and interstate. He has been lecturing and clinically training the undergraduate dental students since 2008 at the Universities of Sydney, Melbourne and La Trobe. Dr Zhang serves as an examiner for the dental students at both the Universities of Melbourne and La Trobe.

Dr Zhang has a strong commitment to excellence in periodontal care by using the state of art technology and facilities. He believes in providing patients with an exceptional level of quality care within a friendly and relaxed environment while striving to educate and motivate the patients to maintain their optimal dental health for life. Dr. Elizabeth Joeng Yeon Yu – BDSc (Hons) (Melb), DClinDent (Perio) (Melb)

After graduating from Bachelor of Dental Science degree with Honours from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Yu has practiced dentistry in both private and public sectors in Queensland and gained extensive experience in all aspects of dentistry. She is committed to delivering quality comprehensive care to her patients and continued to develop her knowledge and skills through professional development programs. Encouraged by her ongoing interest and passion for periodontology, Dr. Yu successfully completed specialist training program in the field of periodontology and implant dentistry at the University of Melbourne and obtained the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) degree.

Dr. Yu’s professional affiliations include the Australian Dental Association, International Team for Implantology, Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontics, Australian Society ofPeriodontology and Australian Osseointegration Society.

The Periodontics and Dental Implant Specialist Centre team values your support and will continue to devote our best efforts to fulfil our commitments in patient care. Dr. Yu is fluent in Korean and will be providing a full range of specialist periodontal and implant procedures including non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatment, implant therapy, grafting, regenerative therapy, and mucogingival surgery.

Dr. Belinda Hasegawa – B.Dent (Hons) D.ClinDent (Perio)

Dr. Belinda Hasegawa was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, receiving her Bachelor of Dentistry with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2006. Upon graduation, Belinda was awarded the Dean’s Prize for Clinical Excellence in Periodontics.

After working in private practice and undertaking the role of clinical educator at both Sydney Dental and Westmead Hospitals, Belinda completed her specialist training at Griffith University, Queensland, receiving her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) in 2013.

During her postgraduate study, Belinda developed a special interest in complex regeneration cases for the periodontally compromised patient. Her research interests include tissue engineering, nanotopography and predictability of guided bone regeneration.

Belinda is an active member of several organizations including: • Australian Society of Periodontology (previously served as Executive ASP NSW) • Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists • International Team for Implantology • Australian Dental Association , having previously served as ADA NSW Councillor

Belinda is an avid cyclist and badminton player. She is also a keen traveller in her spare time, being able to speak Mandarin, Hokkien dialect and Japanese.
